STUDY TASK 2 AND 3. . . categories of illustration

STUDY TASK 2

ATTENTION TO DETAIL. . .

Attention to detail has always been something which I engage in with my practice. Its the way I naturally draw but I also think that it can be used in illustrtion to indicate something subtly without making it too obvious or make too much of a statement in an image. I think detail can give information away quietly and beautifully, if this is appropriate to the image.

AUDIENCE SPECIFIC/ENGAGEMENT. .

Im not a fan of comics however I do like sequential illustrations like that of phillippa rices' because i think it can tell so much more of a story than just the words. I think having a picture going with the words brings it to life and adds atmosphere and a tone of voice to the words.

SIMPLICITY OF THE IMAGE. .

I think the purpose and meaning of an image can get lost or overshadowed when its put into an over complicated composition. Sometimes all you need is the simple  image, at its bare bones to convey a meaning.

SOCIAL/ POLITICAL/ REPORTAGE

I think that Reportage illustration is like narrative illustration but narrating real events and stories. With this comes almost an intention to make the image have more emotion and light to it.
